Sponsorship provides the opportunity to witness young children given a fresh lease of life. It provides immense satisfaction to the individual.
Individuals or organizations willing to sponsor children for surgery will be asked to select the children from our list. Children will be taken up for surgery accordingly and the details will be intimated to the donors. The donors can come to the hospital and look up the children who are undergoing surgery, meet the family members and follow-up the progress of the child.
Each individual child presents different clinical conditions. The surgery cost includes the consumables (items used in surgery) and pharmaceuticals used for each child. In highly complex cases valves and conduits are used that are very expensive. On an average the open heart surgery costs Rs.2.5 lacs to Rs.4.25 lacs (US $4000 approximately) and a closed heart or interventional surgery costs Rs.80,000/- to 1 lac (US $2500 approximately). In cases where conduit or valves are used the surgery cost goes up to 4 lacs.
In Andhra Pradesh the funds required to cover the cost of the surgery will be borne by a combination of Save a Child’s Heart, the government and Apollo Hospitals.
In states other than A.P the funds required to cover the cost of surgery will be borne by SACHi and Apollo Hospitals.
The donor component per surgery is Rs.30,000/-. (In Andhra Pradesh). Out side A.P as the Govt contribution is not available it differs for different surgeries.

It was heart breaking for Nagaratna and Bhooshankar to see their 6-day old baby boy having trouble breathing and feeding, and having a bluish discolouration to his skin. They decided to bring him to Apollo Hospitals, Jubilee Hills from Kadapa in Andhra Pradesh, on 14th March 2017.
When tests were run on the tiny tot, it was found that he was suffering from a very rare heart defect called Interrupted Aortic Arch, in which the aorta is not fully developed, in addition to having two large holes in his heart. The baby underwent a surgical procedure called Emergency Aortic Arch Repair + Ventricular Septal Defect Closure + PDA Ligation on 15th March 2017. The visibly relieved parents took their baby home ten days later, on 25th March 2017.
It is thanks to the generosity of our donors that SACHi has been able to reach out to thousands of children suffering from Congenital Heart Disease and whose families are often unable to shoulder the cost of their treatment. Over 50,000 children have been screened across the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana since SACHi’s inception in 2003.
Children requiring further tests and check-ups are then given consultations with Apollo Hospitals’ top, experienced Paediatric Cardiac Team and the course of treatment is charted out. The children are given access to world-class infrastructure and medical facilities at Apollo Hospitals where they are given a second chance at life.
And through all this, it has been your enthusiast support that has given us the heart to go on. Over the years, you have been magnanimous, kind-hearted, and always available to give us a helping hand. We count on this invaluable support in the future as well.
Thanks for opening your hearts so that these kids’ hearts can beat!

His parents, Balakrishna and Vijaya Laxmi, were very worried about their son’s continued complaints of shortness of breath and bluish discolouration of skin since a long time.
